What is the Menopause?
What is Menopause:
The menopause is a natural stage in every woman’s life that occurs when the ovaries run out of or stop producing eggs, when oestrogen, testosterone and progesterone hormone levels fall drastically and the time in life when a woman stops having periods.
The Average age to begin the menopause in the UK is 51 years old However, people are often perimenopausal much sooner and this can start around the ages of 33-48 years old. Which means symptoms may be experienced sooner.
It often seems when listening to generic information about the Menopause that it is a one-day event in life. However, the Menopause particularly perimenopause will last between 7-12 years.
